EARTH: Picard is a Lieutenant

The immensely powerful cosmic entity Q sends Picard back in time to when he was an ensign in Starfleet. Picard changes the actions he had taken as a younger man; sleeping with his friend Marta and avoiding a fight with some Nausicans. By avoiding the fight, Picard avoids an injury to his heart that had caused him to need an artificial heart years later. However, by avoiding the injury, Picard never learned to seize opportunities when they were presented and never advanced beyond the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade as an astrophysics officer.
