EARTH: George Kirk killed by Nero

An alternate split from the main Earth: Star Trek when Nero travels back in time to try to take pre-emptive revenge on Vulcan for the destruction of Romulus. When Nero arrived in the past, he attacked the USS Kelvin and killed its captain. George Kirk took command of the ship and was killed buying time for his crew to escape, so that his son, James Kirk, grew up without a father.
