EARTH: American Way

A world where the United States government created the Civil Defense Corps, a team of government-sponsored superheroes designed as a propaganda tool. The CDC's battles with supervillains and alien invaders are largely staged, though some members have genuine powers. When marketing director Wesley Catham introduces the New American, an African American hero, to the team in 1962, the CDC fractures along racial lines, with its southern members openly refusing to serve alongside him. A member of the team, Freya, appears to be an alternate version of the Asgardian goddess.
